and the penetration of Jihadist Islamism in the wealthiest US and European universities

Frankly, some themes and issues in today's national and international debate regarding the Israeli-Palestinian war do not captivate me. I find them entirely "inextricable" and consider their hypothetical resolution unnecessary: for example, the fierce dispute over what Zionism has been and currently is. It's certainly a complex discussion, academically fertile, given that there are dozens of books, more or less interesting or "decisive," on the subject. However, it is utterly unproductive, as it should be common knowledge that there was a "left-wing" Zionism (summarized by the "socialist" kibbutzim) and an opposite, fascist-like one, particularly highlighted in recent months by Netanyahu and the thugs even to his right. Neither variant can claim the copyright on the term. Likewise, it seems unprofitable to discuss the opposite term, anti-Zionism, as it is equally evident from global events that there are "genuine" anti-Zionists who are not anti-Jewish, and fake anti-Zionists (of which there are many in the world recently, often unsuspected until recently) who use the term to mask their outright anti-Jewish hatred.
Another discussion that seems entirely academic and resolves nothing is the one about the "historical right of return" of Jews to Palestine. If approached on the level of epochal discourse, the problem appears intricate and complex: historical excursions attempted on this topic in recent months have only demonstrated the elusiveness and fundamental "non-decisiveness" of any argument. However, in my humble opinion, it is mainly a useless debate because Israel's legitimacy as a State did not come from "past historical merits," i.e., based on what happened a couple of thousand years ago, but from a United Nations resolution that overwhelmingly decided that part of Palestine should become the State of Israel. To exemplify the level of universal consensus obtained on this decision, the first two countries to recognize the Israeli State were the USA and the USSR, despite being globally hostile to each other: the Soviet Union even sent weapons when, in 1948, the Arab states that did not accept the UN decision waged war against Israel. The UN and almost all the nations of the time did not do this because they were inspired by the Old Testament but because not only the West but almost the entire world knew that the Holocaust was perpetrated by the Germans, but anti-Judaism had infected almost every country for many centuries, and the Holocaust was ultimately the sum and horrendous "apotheosis" of this. Thus, assigning a nation to the Jews, who never had one (and were historically accused of not identifying with any nation), was an attempt to erase a centuries-old and universal sense of guilt: and they certainly could not place a Jewish nation in Bavaria or the Rhineland or Saxony, i.e., in the home of their greatest massacres. In short, the choice of Palestine was not due to the collective acceptance of the Old Testament as historical truth but simply because there was no Palestinian State at the time, the Arabs in those areas were divided into small communities with different ethnicities or customs, and the neighboring Arab States had no intention of allowing the creation of a Palestinian State, each intending to take a piece of that land: so much so that in 1948 they opened hostilities against the newborn State.
But beyond these general considerations, the further and predominant reason why I dedicate little or no interest to all this is that what concerns me most here and now is what can be effectively intervened upon, particularly the issue that currently seems the real wound on the left (which is certainly not the lack of pro-Palestinian mobilization, which is indeed decidedly adequate, unprecedented, and unmatched for the Kurds, Syrians, against Erdogan, or the Iranian executioners, etc.): that is, the progressive penetration of Jihadist Islamism (which, simplifying, we can translate as "Islamism of the Holy War") on the left (no matter how you mean it) internationally, starting from the United States and its most prestigious and wealthiest universities. I have already written several articles on this topic recently, and the most recent and comprehensive one was published a few days ago on my website (Islamist Propaganda in Universities and Islamophilia: www.pierobernocchi.it).
However, enhancing these concerns of mine in the past week and motivating this new writing, were the words (published on his X, formerly Twitter, account) of Ali Khamenei, the self-declared Supreme Leader of Iran, addressed to the students of the most famous and wealthy US universities last week: "Dear university students in the United States of America, this message is an expression of our empathy and solidarity with you. You are on the right side of history, you have formed a new branch of the Resistance Front, you have started an honorable struggle against the ruthless repression of your government that openly supports the Zionists... My advice to you is to become familiar with the Quran." Plain and simple: clearer than that?! Imagine how much this commonality of intent between the number one Iranian executioner and the US students cheering for Hamas and its sponsors could have pleased an Iranian student hearing about "ruthless repression" on US campuses after seeing the truly ruthless and horrifying repression of hundreds of his colleagues massacred, tortured, and hanged from cranes for peacefully protesting against the monstrous dictatorship of the ayatollahs; or a young woman who saw many of her peers meet the same fate for not wearing the veil or not wearing it correctly; or a gay, lesbian, or trans person who remembers how many from their communities were literally torn to pieces in recent years for their sexual and affectionate preferences. Yet, from the Ivy League universities, there has been not a line or a breath to send back the "solidarity and empathy" of such a global executioner, almost as if, indeed, the students in struggle received encouragement and appreciation from a world political leader of high and universally recognized political, intellectual, and moral stature. Thus, he can legitimately hope that the "familiarity with the Quran" by the future leadership of US society will provide even greater satisfaction to the monstrous Iranian theocracy and its "subordinates" around the world.

SIONISMO/ANTISIONISMO
e la penetrazione dell’islamismo jihadista nelle più ricche università Usa e in Europa

Francamente alcuni temi e nodi del dibattito nazionale e internazionale odierno, a proposito della guerra israelo-palestinese, non mi appassionano, trovandoli del tutto "inestricabili" e soprattutto ritenendone inutile anche una ipotetica risoluzione: ad esempio, la furiosa disputa su cosa sia stato e sia attualmente il sionismo. E' di certo una discussione complessa, accademicamente fertile visto che ci sono decine di libri, più o meno interessanti o "decisivi", sull'argomento. Ma del tutto improduttiva, dato che dovrebbe essere di conoscenza comune che c'è stato un sionismo "di sinistra" (quello dei kibbutz "socialisti" per sintetizzare) e uno opposto, fascistoide, particolarmente messo in mostra in questi mesi da Netanyahu e dalla teppaglia che riesce a stare persino alla sua destra: e nessuna delle due varianti può vantare il copyright sul termine. Così come mi pare per nulla proficuo discettare sul termine opposto, l'antisionismo, dato che, dai fatti che si susseguono a livello mondiale, appare altrettanto evidente che ci sono antisionisti "genuini" e non anti-giudaici, e antisionisti fasulli (e di questi in giro per il mondo ultimamente se ne vedono parecchi e spesso insospettabili fino a ieri) che usano il termine per mascherare il proprio odio anti-ebraico tout court.
Altra discussione che mi pare del tutto accademica e non risolutiva di alcunchè, è quella intorno al "diritto storico al ritorno" degli ebrei in Palestina. Volendolo affrontare sul piano della discettazione epocale, il problema appare intricato e complesso: e gli excursus storici tentati al proposito da varie parti in questi mesi sono serviti solo a dimostrare l'inafferabilità e la sostanziale "non decisività" di ogni argomentazione in merito. Però, sempre a mio modesto parere, trattasi soprattutto di un inutile dibattere, perchè la legittimità del proprio Stato Israele non l'ha ricevuta per "meriti storici pregressi", cioè in base a quanto accaduto un paio di migliaia di anni fa, ma da una risoluzione delle Nazioni Unite che decisero a stragrande maggioranza che una parte di Palestina doveva diventare lo Stato d’Israele. I primi due paesi a riconoscere lo Stato israeliano, tanto per esemplificare il grado di consenso universale ottenuto su tale decisione, furono gli USA e l'URSS, pur frontalmente ostili a livello globale: e l'Unione sovietica inviò anche armi quando nel 1948 gli Stati arabi che non accettavano la decisione dell’Onu mossero guerra a Israele. L'ONU e la quasi totalità delle nazioni dell'epoca non lo fecero certo perché ispirati dall’Antico Testamento ma perché non solo l'Occidente ma quasi tutto il mondo sapevano che l'Olocausto l'avevano messo in opera i tedeschi ma l'anti-giudaismo aveva infettato per tanti secoli quasi tutti i paesi e l'Olocausto ne era stato in definitiva la summa e l'orrenda "apoteosi". E dunque, assegnare una nazione agli ebrei, che non ne avevano mai avuta una (e di questo venivano storicamente accusati, cioè di non identificarsi con nessuna nazione), era un tentativo di cancellare un plurisecolare e universale senso di colpa: e certo non potevano mettere una nazione ebraica in Baviera o nella Renania o Sassonia, cioè in casa dei loro più grandi massacratori. Insomma, la scelta della Palestina non fu dovuta all'acquisizione corale dell'Antico Testamento come verità storica ma semplicemente al fatto che all’epoca non esisteva alcuno Stato palestinese, che gli arabi di quelle zone erano divisi in comunità ristrette, diverse per etnie o costumi, e che agli Stati arabi vicini non passava manco per la capa di permettere la creazione di uno Stato palestinese, visto che ognuno di essi intendeva prendersi un pezzo di quella terra: tant'è che nel 1948 furono loro ad aprire le ostilità belliche contro il neonato Stato.
Ma, oltre a queste considerazioni generali, l'ulteriore e prevalente ragione per cui a tutto ciò dedico poco o nullo interesse è il fatto che ciò che più mi sta a cuore, qui ed ora, riguarda quello su cui si può realmente intervenire, e in particolare il tema che al momento mi sembra il vero vulnus a sinistra (che non è certo la scarsa mobiltazione pro-Palestina che è anzi decisamente adeguata, senza precedenti e senza eguali nè per i curdi, nè per i siriani, nè contro Erdogan, nè contro i boia iraniani ecc.): e cioè la progressiva penetrazione dell'islamismo jihadista (che, semplificando, possiamo tradurre "islamismo della Guerra santa") a sinistra (comunque intesa) a livello internazionale, a partire dagli Stati Uniti e dalle sue università più prestigiose e più ricche. Sull'argomento ho già scritto alcuni articoli negli ultimi tempi e il più recente ed organico l'ho pubblicato qualche giorno fa sul mio sito (Propaganda islamista nelle università e islamofilia, www.pierobernocchi.it).
Però, a potenziare queste mie preoccupazioni nell'ultima settimana e a motivare questo mio nuovo scritto, sono giunte la settimana scorsa le parole (pubblicate nel suo account X, ex-Twitter) di Alì Khamenei, la autodefinitasi Guida Suprema dell'Iran, rivolte agli studenti statunitensi delle università più famose e più danarose: "Cari studenti universitari negli Stati Uniti d'America, questo messaggio è un'espressione della nostra empatia e solidarietà con voi. Siete dalla parte giusta della storia, avete formato un nuovo ramo del Fronte di resistenza, avete iniziato una lotta onorevole contro la spietata repressione del vostro governo che sostiene apertamente i sionisti... Il mio consiglio per voi è di acquisire familiarità con il Corano". Nudo e crudo: più chiaro di così?! Pensate quanto possa aver fatto piacere questa comunanza di intenti, tra il boia numero 1 iraniano e gli studenti USA che inneggiano ad Hamas e ai suoi sponsor, ad uno studente iraniano che sente parlare di "spietata repressione" nei campus USA, dopo aver visto quella, essa sì davvero spietata e orripilante, di centinaia di suoi colleghi massacrati, torturati e impiccati ad una gru per aver pacificamente manifestato contro la mostruosa dittatura degli ayatollah; o ad una giovane donna che ha visto fare la stessa fine a tante sue coetanee perchè non indossavano il velo o non lo portavano correttamente; o ad un gay, lesbica o trans che ha nella mente il ricordo di quanti delle proprie comunità sono stati negli anni scorsi addirittura fatti/e a pezzi per le loro preferenze sessuali e affettive. Ebbene, dalle università statunitensi della Ivy League non è uscito nè un rigo nè un fiato per rimandare al mittente "la solidarietà e l'empatia" di un tale boia planetario, quasi che, anzi, fosse arrivato agli studenti in lotta un incoraggiamento e un apprezzamento da un leader politico mondiale di elevata e universalmente riconosciuta caratura politica, intellettuale e morale. Il quale, quindi, può legittimamente sperare che "acquisire familiarità con il Corano" da parte delle future leadership della società USA, darà ancor ben maggiori soddisfazioni alla mostruosa teocrazia iraniana e ai suoi "sottoposti" in giro per il mondo.
